FREE BRITNEY

We have created a tie and a bandana as a tribute to American performer Britney Spears, victim of a 13-year conservatorship. All proceeds from the collection will be donated to the American association NASGA (National Association to Stop Guardian Abuse), which provides support to victims of abusive conservatorships.
Cinabre x Britney... But why?

It was my wife, Anne-Flore, a massive Britney Spears fan, who first made me aware of the popstar’s legal battle. Unfortunately, her artistic career has had to take a back seat to the proceedings. Nevertheless, we’re all still talking about her 30-year career, the nearly 200 million records sold worldwide, 6 headlining tours and more than 500 awards.

Whether or not you like the popstar and her universe, there is no debating that she has had incredible success and is very talented, for which I have a lot of respect.

BRITNEY SPEARS AND I, WE GO WAY BACK!

I went to see Britney Spears in concert on August 23, 2017. My wife and I were in Las Vegas, just a few hours before our 2nd wedding, at Little White Chapel. Yes, yes, yes, we got married in Sin City (I slipped in some Vegas wedding pictures at the end. Caution: May cause eye pain!).

Britney’s story touched me all the more because I have a friend, and mentor, who is also the victim of an abusive conservatorship. In legal proceedings against his own family, he makes me keenly aware of how difficult it is for the victim to break free of the conservatorship, whether it be the United States or France.

IMPORTANT: I would like to point out here that supervision, in the way of a guardian or conservator, may be absolutely necessary in specific situations for certain individuals who are unable to care for themselves or can no longer protect their own interests. This collection is not a plea in favor of stopping all conservatorships.

Framing Britney Spears, by Samantha Stark

Getting back to Britney, I recommend the documentary Framing Britney Spears, directed by Samantha Stark (rather than the one from Netflix). Based on an investigation by The New York Times, it reveals how the paparazzi-cornered popstar found herself trapped in her father's conservatorship for 13 years. Finally, on November 12th, the California court gave their ruling and lifted the conservatorship. We now wish her all the happiness she deserves for the start of her new life. In any case, the collection will be available until the end of December.

« FREE BRITNEY » TIE AND BANDANA

1 tie. 3 video clips. 3 cult moments in pop history. From her flight attendant outfit in “Toxic”, to her red latex jumpsuit in “Oops! I did it again”, to her high school uniform in “Baby One More Time”, Cinabre wanted to celebrate the singer by weaving these three iconic silhouettes into a tie.

We also created a bandana that is as American as it is Frenchy, with a paisley stylized border framing the Statue of Liberty overlaid with a pink “Free Britney” slogan, used by millions of fans.
